Meet Adoptable Tofu!
Tofu is our very incredible SPECIAL shepherd boy.
Tofu was almost euthanized just for overcrowding at a local shelter. Bubbles Dog Rescue saved him and he began to relax with a foster.
Just a week in, he tested positive for heartworm, which is a VERY rare parasitic infection to have in CA. We are now beginning to realize he was surrendered likely because the family found out this diagnosis and couldn’t afford the care - as its thousands of dollars.
However. Bubbles Dog Rescue, even if Tofu is adopted, is going to sponsor the care - what he has left is immune shots , every few months with retesting. ALL COVERED BY the rescue until the treatment course is over and he is fully negative.
This is NOT transmissible to humans or other dogs but, it definitely is something the owner will have to keep on watch for - and be diligent with vet visits and staying on top of his treatment!
With the current treatment he is on , he should still live the same long life!
Tofu is wonderful with his humans. He is the most loyal, loving dog you could imagine. Tofu is sweet, gentle, and loves to play with toys and play fetch, lay in the yard, take walks and be around you.
He’s being fostered in San Diego.
